Following the Cancellation of the Black Panther Game |
After the recent announcement that EA's Cliffhanger Studios and Marvel have officially canceled their Black Panther game project, attention has now shifted to the other Marvel titles still in development in collaboration with various studios. Below is a roundup of the remaining projects.
Marvel has firmly established itself in the video game industry since the previous console generation, starting with the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, both developed in partnership with PlayStation and Sony. In the current generation, Marvel continues to expand its gaming universe by working with a diverse range of studios to bring its iconic characters from the big screen into the gaming world.
Marvel Games Still in Development After the Black Panther Cancellation
While the Black Panther game has been shelved, it wasn’t the only Marvel game in the works. Here are the major titles still under development:
Marvel’s Wolverine
Developed by Insomniac Games (a PlayStation and Sony studio), this title will follow the story of the fan-favorite mutant, Wolverine, drawing inspiration from both the comics and films.
Marvel’s Blade
Announced nearly two years ago, this surprise title marks the first collaboration between Marvel and Xbox Studios. The game is being developed by Arkane (under Bethesda) and will focus on the iconic vampire hunter featured in classic Marvel films.
Marvel’s Iron Man
This is the second project between Marvel and EA. Currently in development by Motive Studio, it centers around Iron Man, one of Marvel's most beloved heroes. However, its future remains uncertain following recent developments at EA.
Marvel’s 1943: Rise of Hydra
Unveiled early last year, this title is a collaboration between Marvel and Plaion, developed by Skydance Games. Set during World War II, it features a storyline involving Captain America and Black Panther. The game is expected to launch officially next year.
Unannounced Third Project (Speculated)
Another untitled EA-Marvel collaboration is rumored to be in development. While nothing has been confirmed, speculation suggests it could feature Hulk, Black Widow, or Thor as the protagonist.
