News surrounding Resident Evil 9 continues to make headlines as more details emerge from reliable sources. This time, it's been confirmed that the upcoming title will adopt a third-person perspective, similar to recent remake entries, rather than the first-person view used in the last two mainline installments.
Renowned insider Dusk Golem has once again shared new insights. He previously revealed that Resident Evil 9 began development back in 2017 as an open-world multiplayer project. However, the direction of the game has since shifted, and it's now confirmed that Leon Kennedy will remain the main protagonist.
In response to a fan question about whether the new game would maintain the first-person perspective of the last two titles, Dusk Golem clarified that it will, in fact, be third-person. This decision allows players to fully see and experience Leon’s updated character model.
Many fans consider the third-person view to be the "true" perspective of the Resident Evil series, following the early classic trilogy’s fixed camera angles and the success of the remakes.
Dusk Golem also mentioned that the game is expected to be officially revealed later this year. He believes Capcom may choose to unveil it during the upcoming The Game Awards (TGA) event, with a potential release slated for early next year.
