Live-Action Elden Ring Film Announced, Directed by Alex Garland
Bandai Namco and A24 have officially announced a collaboration with acclaimed writer and director Alex Garland to produce a live-action film adaptation of the globally renowned video game Elden Ring. Developed by FromSoftware, Elden Ring has become a cultural phenomenon, continuing the studio's legacy of critically acclaimed "Souls-like" titles such as Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, and Bloodborne.
The upcoming film promises to expand the epic journey of Elden Ring, potentially shedding new light on the mysterious and intricate world of the Lands Between. Fans are also eagerly anticipating the release of the next co-op installment in the series, Elden Ring: Nightreign, scheduled to launch on May 30, 2025.
Garland, best known for directing Ex Machina and 28 Days Later, has earned widespread praise for his work as a writer, director, and producer. His involvement in the Elden Ring adaptation puts an end to longstanding rumors about the franchise branching out beyond the realm of gaming.

Fresh off the success of Warfare his recent film produced by A24 which grossed over $32 million since its release last month Garland is set to write and direct the Elden Ring movie, bringing his distinctive vision and cinematic expertise to the highly anticipated project.
Notably, George R. R. Martin, who contributed to the world-building and narrative of the Elden Ring game, will co-produce the film alongside Vince Gerardis. Executive producers from DNA Films Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich will also be involved in the production.
As of now, it's unclear whether Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's director at FromSoftware, will have a role in the film's development. Details about the plot, cast, and release date remain under wraps.
